A thriller that makes you think
Saturday, September 28th, 2013
At the press conference he gave shortly before receiving the Donostia Award, Hugh Jackman spoke about his film Prisoners, shown in a special screening yesterday. “Prisoners reminds us how easy it is to make moral judgments, and how difficult it is to know what you would do if you’re not in the victim’s position. It’s a strange film for Hollywood and the producer (Kyra Davis) has made it possible with her courage; it’s a thriller, but it makes you think.” He said he was attracted to playing “extreme” roles because he considered himself to be “pretty moderate” in real life. He said that he felt really surprised and grateful for receiving his award, and that it was an honour to be recognized by such a prestigious festival, and that it was truly humbling to think that figures like Gregory Peck and Robert de Niro had gone before him.
