The Act of Killing. Cinema and global violence

The season, jointly organised with San Sebastian, European Capital of Culture 2016, and which has the collaboration of San Telmo Museum, the Filmoteca Vasca and CulturArts-IVAC (Valencia), includes a selection of 32 films offering a testimony of the times we live in, of the situations of violence occurring all over the world: wars, terrorism, the occupation of land, human rights violations and genocides. In keeping with the retrospective, the book explores, among other subjects, the Israel-Palestine conflict in cinema, the last fight. The memory of Basque terrorism in 21st century cinema, The frozen revolution. Political cinema in Latin America and The performance of violence. Perpetrators in the work of Rithy Panh and Joshua Oppenheimer / Christinne Cynn.
