Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The San Sebastian City Council will sponsor the City of Donostia / San Sebastian Audience Award for four years in a row. This initiative, which arose during the celebration of the European Capital of Culture, continues as part of the legacy of San Sebastian 2016 and is a tribute from the City Council to its citizens, who will give the award.
The City of Donostia / San Sebastián Audience Award goes to Perlak’s films It’s a section made up of titles that have been awarded or acclaimed at other international festivals. The screenings will take place at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre and the audience attending the first screening of each film will be able to vote to choose the winner. The award will be presented at the Festival closing gala.
The City of Donostia / San Sebastián Audience Award are two different accolades: a Best Film Award, coming with 50,000 euros, and a Best European Film Award of 20,000 euros. Thanks to this award, the two winning films will be forever connected to the city.
Last year the City of Donostia / San Sebastian Audience Award for Best Film went to Un día más con vida / Another Day of Life by Raúl de la Fuente and Damian Nenow, which also won awards such as the Goya, the European Film Award and the Platino Award as best animated film. On the other hand, the Best European Film award went to Lukas Dhont's debut film Girl, which also gained recognition at events such as the Cannes Film Festival and the European Film Awards.
Free tickets for unemployed citizens and disadvantaged groups
Furthermore, the City Council, together with the Festival, will distribute 1,000 tickets for the Zinemaldia among unemployed citizens. The distribution will take place, as usual, in the Uda!info office of the Town Hall, while the social services will be in charge of distributing tickets to members of the disadvantaged groups which have difficulties accessing movie theaters.
Ticket applications will be made online from 9:00 am on Wednesday 18 September until 2:00 pm on September 20. Those who are unable to apply online can do so by calling 010 or visiting a Udal!nfo office.
Tickets will only be delivered at Uda!info's Central Office, located in 41 Easo street. The unemployed person must go to Udal!nfo reception between 18 and 20 September from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
