In 2018, the San Sebastian Festival launched Zinemaldia & Technology: a strategic commitment for the Festival, which seeks to position itself as a benchmark space for technological and audiovisual innovation.

In its second edition, Zinemaldia & Technology will include a masterclass, presentations by R&D&I companies and a presentation of the projects selected for the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge, the competition intended for entrepreneurs and recently created startups proposing new business projects based on the application of digital technologies in the audiovisual field. The five finalist projects will defend their proposals and a jury will decide the winner of the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge Award.
