Style doesn’t matter as much as the result
Sunday, September 19th, 2021

Vincent Lindon is undeniably one of the most emblematic figures in contemporary French cinema. This year he could be seen in the official section of the most important European film festivals. He was in Venice as the star of Un autre monde by Stéphane Brizé, a director he has worked with on several occasions, and next Wednesday he’ll be appearing in Enquête sur un scandale d’état/ Undercover, a film by Thierry De Peretti that is competing for the Golden Shell. However, he’s already been in San Sebastián for a few days to promote Titane, the film by Julia Ducournau that won the Golden Palm this year at Cannes. He praises her as an exceptional talent with a language all of her own, “one of those cases that emerge in French cinema every ten or fifteen years.”

Despte being made to extend his range by Julia Ducournau, Lindon acknowledges that he feels comfortable working with a wide range of directors. “In the end the style doesn’t matter as much as the results,” and he compares the elegance of Federer with the physicality of Nadal: they both win in their own way.
