Tabakalera made the call for participation in 2deo serieak this morning, an international programme aiming at tutoring, accompanying, and supporting projects by series creators (producers and scriptwriters). The new project is driven by 2deo, Tabakalera's audiovisual laboratory, promoted by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, in the context of Etorkizuna Eraikiz, and it features the cooperation of the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
The goal is to influence the quality and viability of the selected projects, and in turn support Basque-language series and their international presence thanks to new opportunities afforded by current distribution models.
The 2deo Serieak mentoring programme for creators of series wants to offer both emerging talents and professionals already working in the sector a new space for development. Their series may be in any format or of any genre and must have international ambition and a particular interest in Basque-language production.
Each selected project will receive a development grant of 6,000 euros and will also have individual mentoring and advice. In the in-person and online sessions from April to September, each team will analyse and rewrite their screenplay and develop their production and distribution strategy as well as their mise en scène. The three selected projects will be supervised by three mentors throughout the entire process: Aitor Gabilondo, Christine Vachon, and Xabier Berzosa.
Between June and July, the authors of the selected projects and the mentors from the call will hold a three-day meeting at Tabakalera aimed at sharing experiences and knowledge.
The last part of the programme will take place through a series of professional meetings that will be held during the San Sebastian International Film Festival, where teams will have the opportunity to present their projects to relevant sector players (producers, distributors and investors, and television platforms and channels) in order to get the chance to produce the series.
ANNOUNCEMENT
The project reception period shall run from 5 February to 8 march 2021. The three selected projects will be notified on 5 April. All of the information to participate in the call for applications is available at tabakalera.eus
