Eight films presented in San Sebastian rack up a total of 22 acknowledgments at the 2022 Goyas
Eight films presented at San Sebastian have won awards in 22 categories at the 36th Goya Awards ceremony, given by the Spanish Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts.
El buen patrón / The Good Boss, selected for the Official Selection, bagged a total of six awards: Best Film, Best Director (Fernando León de Aranoa), Best Actor (Javier Bardem), Best Original Screenplay (Fernando León de Aranoa), Best Editing (Vanessa Maribert) and Best Original Score (Zeltia Montes).
For its part, Maixabel, winner of the Irizar Basque Film Award, carried off the Goyas for Best Actress (Blanca Portillo), Best Supporting Actor (Urko Olazabal) and Best New Actress (María Cerezuela).
Quién lo impide / Who’s Stopping Us, Quién lo impide / Who's Stopping Us by Jonás Trueba, also a world premiere at San Sebastian and Silver Shell for Best Supporting Peformance for the whole cast, was recognised with the Goya for Best Documentary Film.
In addition, Mediterráneo / Mediterráneo: The Law of the Sea, directed by Marcel Barrena and premiered at the RTVE Gala, won three awards: Best Cinematography (Kiko de la Rica), Best Production Supervision (Albert Espel and Kostas Sfakianakis) and Best Original Song (María José Llergo).
Druk / Another Round, , directed by Thomas Vinterberg, which competed in the Official Selection in 2020 and won the Silver Shell for its starring quartet, was acknowledged with the Goya for Best European Film, while La cordillera de los sueños / The Cordillera of Dreams, by Patricio Guzmán, which participated in Horizontes Latinos in 2019, lands the Goya for Best Ibero-American Film.
Lastly, Libertad, by Clara Roquet, a project selected for the Europe-Latin America Co-production Forum in 2018 and which had its release at the Cannes Critics’ Week, was rewarded with the Goyas for Best New Director and Best Supporting Actress (Nora Navas).
