Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Maru Garzón Polanco (Mexico City) has dedicated 30 years of professional career both to promoting Mexican cinema at international level and to circulating international cinema in Mexico.
An indefatigable cultural promotor, she collaborated for more than a decade with the Mexican Film Institute as head of the Promotion and International Sales Department, from where she designed and coordinated the participation of Mexican cinema and its events around the world during the Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, San Sebastian, Locarno, Cartagena, Abu Dhabi and Havana film festivals, among others.
She also developed and executed strategies for the international commercialisation of Mexican films and programmed and coordinated Mexican film seasons, shows and retrospectives with international institutions such as BAFTA, the Cinémathèque française, the Harvard Film Archive and the UCLA Film and Television Archive. She has also been the collaborator of producers such as Jorge Sánchez Sosa and Mathías Ehrenberg, as well as programming manager of the Televisa Film Division.
She is currently art director of Los Cabos International Film Festival, which she originally joined as director of programming in 2013.
