Mark Strong (London) is a film, television and theater actor.
He has appeared in several Oscar-nominated films, including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (Tomas Alfredson, 2011), The Imitation Game (Morten Tydlum, 2014), Zero Dark Thirty (Kathryn Bigelow, 2012), Tár (Todd Field, 2022), and 1917 (Sam Mendes, 2019). His credits also include Sherlock Holmes (Guy Ritchie, 2009), Robin Hood (Ridley Scott, 2010), Body of Lies (Ridley Scott, 2008), Cruella (Craig Gillespie, 2021), and Stardust (Matthew Vaughn, 2007). He is best known for his roles as Frank D’Amico in Kick-Ass (Matthew Vaughn, 2010), Dr. Sivana in Shazam! (David F. Sandberg, 2019), and Merlin in the Kingsman films (Matthew Vaughn, 2014 & 2017).
In TV Mark recently wrapped production on the Apple TV series Neuromancer and can currently be seen in season 2 of Hulu's Nine Perfect Strangers opposite Nicole Kidman. He can also be seen in the HBO series Dune: Prophecy and The Penguin opposite Colin Farrell, as well as Temple on both Sky and Netflix. He was nominated for a BAFTA for his role as Harry Starks in The Long Firm and in the BAFTA winning Our Friends in the North both for the BBC.
On stage this year Mark won the Critics’ Circle award for his title role in Robert Icke's Oedipus in the West End and was nominated for the Olivier. The production is to return later this year to the Studio 54 theatre in New York. He was last on stage in the production of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge in the West End and on Broadway, directed by Ivo Van Hove, for which he received both the Olivier Award and Critics’ Circle Award for Best Actor and was nominated for the Tony.
