Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Casimiro Torreiro Gómez (Montevideo) earned a Degree in Information Sciences at the University of the Basque Country (Leioa) and a Doctorate at the Universidad Autònoma de Barcelona. From 1988 to 2024 he was professor of several subjects related to filmmaking, first of all at the UAB (Bellaterra), where he taught teaching from 1999, on the Master’s in Creative Documentary making and, since 2006-2007, at the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid.
A film critic for several publications, such as Dirigido, Fotogramas and the daily El País (1989-2006), he sits on the advisory committee of the university magazine Secuencias and is a regular contributor to a variety of publications, such as the monographic magazine Nosferatu.
He is the author of several books, mainly on the subject of Spanish cinema (El guion en el cine español. Quimeras, picarescas y pluriempleo, Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts Award for Best Research Work 1999); on documentary films (El documental en España. Historia, estética e identidad, Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts Award, 2023) and on film history in general.
He is currently a member of the Málaga Film Festival executive committee.
