Dana Blankstein Cohen (Einsiedeln, Switzerland) studied at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem, graduating with honors. Her short film Camping premiered at the 2007 Berlinale. From 2014 to 2016, she founded and directed a municipal film and television department. From 2016 to 2019, she served as CEO of the Israeli Academy of Film and Television. She is a member of the European Film Academy and a founding board member of Big Sister, a nonprofit for gender equality in the film and television industry.
In 2019, she was appointed CEO and Executive Director of the Sam Spiegel Film and Television Institute. In this role, she oversees the school and its many initiatives. She expanded the International Film Lab and initiated the Sam Spiegel Series Lab, launched in 2022 in partnership with Netflix. She has also advanced study frameworks for Arabic-speaking and Palestinian students and arthouse independent films through Cinema by Sam Spiegel.
