Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
After her Master studies in German Language and Literature in Utrecht Mariëtte Rissenbeek (Posterholt, Netherlands) moved to Berlin and in 1986 began her career in the film industry as acquisitions manager at the indepedent distribution company Tobis Filmkunst until 1995 when she moved to Regina Ziegler Filmproduktion in 1995, and produced films both for tv and for theatrical release including the international series Erotic Tales by wellknown international directors like Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, Jos Stelling and Mika Kaurismäki. As an independent producer she produced Mika Kaurismäki’s roadmovie Highway Society 1999 in Hamburg.
She moved to Munich in 2000 to produce a tv film for Hoffmann & Voges and in 2002 she joined German Films, Germany’s national institution for the promotion of German cinema around the world. Starting off as deputy director she became Managing Director in 2010. In 2019 she was appointed Managing Director of Berlin International Film Festival until 2024. Since then she is working as a consultant, mentor and producer for international filmmakers, festivals and institutions and was co-producer on Far Away by Tayfur Aydın which premiered in the documentary competition of the Tallinn Film Festival 2025.
