Martin McDonagh, director of In Bruges and The Banshees of Inisherin, brings his signature dark humour and sharp dialogue to Wild Horse Nine. The film takes place in Chile in 1973, just before the coup that ousted Salvador Allende. John Malkovich stars as Chris, a veteran CIA agent facing a terminal illness and memory loss, who travels to Easter Island with his younger colleague Lee (Sam Rockwell). While working on his memoirs, Chris begins revealing secrets from his decades in the shadows, touching on some of the darkest moments in US history. The cast also includes Steve Buscemi, Mariana Di Girolamo, Ailín Salas, and Tom Waits. Set against the spectacular landscapes of Rapa Nui, McDonagh combines political intrigue, friendship, black comedy, and the style of 1970s American westerns.
