Gabriel Martins turns a family tragedy into a quiet exploration of grief, forgiveness and the bonds that connect people. After her son causes a fatal bus accident, Vicentina visits the victims’ families to apologise, embarking on a journey through mourning and empathy.
Martins wanted to create a space where spectators could leave the outside world behind, allowing relationships and emotions to breathe. “I wanted to retake relationships with real connection,” he explained. Family is both the film’s subject and its creative starting point, while an outstanding cast gives weight to its meditation on loss. For Martins, cinema can connect people, and even in the face of death, life must go on.
