The San Sebastián Festival will screen Lo dejamos acá / Therapy Done Right, the new film from the Argentinian director Hernán Goldfrid (Buenos Aires, 1979), with a cast featuring Ricardo Darín, image of the poster for the San Sebastián Festival’s 74th edition, and Diego Peretti. Including the film, programmed in the Other Activities section, is a tribute to the Argentinian actor, who received the Donostia Award in 2017.
The feature film, which will be available on Netflix in October 16, follows a pragmatic psychoanalyst (Darín) who, having lost faith in the conventional psychological methods, decides to progressively push the boundaries with his patients. It all seems to be working out fine until a creatively blocked writer walks through the door.
The actor, producer and director Ricardo Darín (Buenos Aires, 1957) has become one of the most prestigious figures of cinema in Latin America and around the world in recent decades. And for 20 years, the Argentinian has been a regular face at the Festival which gave him its highest honorary distinction, the Donostia Award, in 2017.
Over the fifty years of his career and around a hundred performances earning him more than 40 accolades, he has alternated independent film with the big crowd-pleasers. Among others, he has worked under the orders of Adolfo Aristarain, Juan José Campanella, Fabián Bielinsky, Fernando Trueba, Pablo Trapero, Cesc Gay and Santiago Mitre.
For his part, Hernán Goldfrid made his feature film debut in 2009 with the romcom Música en espera, starring Diego Peretti and Natalia Oreiro. He went on to direct the thriller Tesis sobre un homicidio (2013), also featuring Ricardo Darín, viewed by more than a million spectators in Argentina. Between 2016 and 2023, the Argentinian helmer directed all three seasons of the series El jardín de bronce / The Bronze Garden, nominated in 2020 for the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. And in 2025, he penned several episodes of Atrapados, an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel Caught.
