The San Sebastián Festival sold 32,722 tickets for screenings across the first three days of the event, on the first day of public staggered tickets sale until 7:00 p.m. This figure represents a slight increase compared to the same day last year.
Screenings with the highest ticket sales include films such as Glaxo, 5 minutos más / 5 More Minutes and Les Miseráblesand in the Official Selection; Minotaur, La bola negra, and The Invite in the Perlak section; Morro, Ri Guang / Will You Still Be My Friend and El mal hijo / The Bad Son in the New Directors section; and Siempre soy tu animal materno / Forever Your Maternal Animal and Cinco años, cuatro meses / Five Years, Four Months in Horizontes Latinos. There was also high demand for the Donostia Award screenings of Bucking Fastard and The Housewife, as well as the screening of The Mission (in the "Other Activities" category).
Advance ticket sales took place both online and in person at the Zinemaldi Plaza (Kursaal) box offices. Today, tickets were available for the first three days of the Festival (Friday the 18th, Saturday the 19th, and Sunday the 20th). Sales for screenings on Monday the 21st, Tuesday the 22nd, and Wednesday the 23rd will begin tomorrow, Monday the 14th, at 9:00 AM; tickets for screenings on Thursday the 24th, Friday the 25th, and Saturday the 26th will go on sale on Tuesday the 15th.
Once again, San Sebastián Festival Director José Luis Rebordinos expressed his gratitude to the public for their "incredible" response on the first day of ticket sales. “About 20,000 tickets were sold in the first hour, causing the system to run somewhat slowly; however, by 10:00 a.m., the virtual queue was gone, and the purchasing process proceeded more smoothly,” noted Rebordinos.
