Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).

The ticket for next Thursday, 17 September, is dedicated to the San Sebastián Festival, with which Loterías y Apuestas del Estado collaborates closely, in view of the bodies’ shared conviction that culture is an essential tool for fostering critical thought, fighting inequalities and contributing to collective progress.
Coinciding with the week kicking off the Festival’s 74th edition, Loterías has decided to honour the event, precisely by featuring the iconic image of San Sebastián’s Kursaal building with a projection showing the number of the Festival edition on its facade. An image that will be repeated in the coming days, with the celebration of this year’s edition, running from 18-26 September.
For the draw on 17 September, Loterías will release a total of 6 million tickets which will serve as ambassadors of one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals. In total, the draw will distribute 12.6 million euros in prize money, particularly including a first prize of 300,000 euros per series and a second prize of 60,000 euros per series.
Falling within the collaboration between the Festival and Loterías is the Loterías Award going to short films on social issues, which will present the awards corresponding to its third edition next week. The six finalist short films this year are 3 días, 3 noches, by Anuska Ariztimuño; Amarraditos, by Arturo Mombiedro Lozano; Headscarf, by Lucía Saavedra; Ma-Ma, by Isabel María Monge; Prejuicios, by Javi Prada; and La raíz, by Isabel Sáez Pérez. The objective of this competition is to send positive and heartening messages advocating the redistribution of wealth, social justice and support for vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, women victims of gender abuse and cancer sufferers.
Another outstanding initiative is the project “Zinemaldia 70. All possible stories”, which has enabled, with the backing of Loterías, recovery of the San Sebastián Festival archive. Thanks to this project, an important legacy tied to the history of the event has been made available to the general public. In addition, a catalogue has been created with more than 27,000 descriptive entries, endowing the archive with tools to foster its consultation and study. Both the Loterías Award and the “Zinemaldia 70” project are an example of how collaboration between institutions can generate lasting benefits for society and highlight the importance of culture as an engine of social progress.
