Ira Sachs - The Man I Love
Filmmaker Ira Sachs, chair of the Official Jury at this year’s festival, will present his latest film, "The Man I Love", at Perlak, following its premiere in the Official Selection at Cannes. His visit to the festival will provide an opportunity to discuss this new work and his career in film. Over the course of a career spanning more than thirty-five years, Ira Sachs has built up a deeply personal filmography, characterised by a precise and unsentimental perspective on human relationships – both romantic and familiar – as well as on the complexities of desire, sexuality and intimacy. It will be a unique opportunity to gain an insight into his creative world and, together with him, explore a career marked by a singular perspective on the human condition.
Jaume Claret Muxart (Sant Cugat, Spain. 1998) was one of the first generation to study at the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (EQZE). His most outstanding films are the short Ella i jo (Nest, 2020), screened at festivals such as Rotterdam and IndieLisboa, Die Donau (2023), shown at FIDMarseille, Málaga and the SEMINCI, and La nostra habitació, with which he returned to Rotterdam. His feature debut, Estrany riu / Strange River, was selected for Ikusmira Berriak in 2022 and competed in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival (2025) and in the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section of the San Sebastian Film Festival (2025).
Ira Sachs (Memphis, USA. 1965) competed at Sundance with his debut film, The Delta (1996), Forty Shades of Blue (2005), winner of the Grand Jury Prize, and Keep the Lights On (2012), also included in Berlin Festival's Panorama section, where it won the Teddy Award. He once again participated in Panorama with Love is Strange (Perlak, 2014), Passages (2023) presented out of competition in Sundance, and Peter Hujar’s Day (2025). Completing his films are Married Life (2007), premiered in Toronto, Little Men (Perlak, 2016), included in Generation Kplus at the Berlinale, and Frankie (2019), premiered in competition at Cannes, where he competed this year with The Man I Love.
