Benjamín Naishtat - GLAXO

Benjamín Naishtat is an Argentinian filmmaker who graduated from the Universidad del Cine and Le Fresnoy. His feature film "Puan" (2023), co-directed with María Alché, won the Best Screenplay award at San Sebastián and was nominated for a Goya for Best Ibero-American Film. This year, he will be competing for the Golden Shell in the Official Selection with his new feature film, "Glaxo", and will also open the Zabaltegi – Tabakalera section with the film "Pedro en el país", also co-directed with Alché. In this conversation, Benjamín Naishtat will share his working and creative processes, discuss building a career in the world of cinema, and talk about the challenges and lessons that run through his latest works.

The first film from Benjamin Naishtat (Buenos Aires, 1986), Historia del miedo / History of Fear (Films in Progress 2013, Horizontes Latinos, 2014) competed in Berlin. The second, El movimiento, was presented at Cineasti del Presente in Locarno. Rojo (2018) won the Silver Shell for Best Director and Best Actor (Dario Grandinetti) and the Best  Cinematography Award. In 2020 he won the Best Project Award at the IX Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum with his project Pobres pibes. In 2023 he co-directed, with María Alché, Puan (Proyecta 2021), recipient in San Sebastián of the Jury Prize for Best Screenplay and of the Silver Shell for Best Leading Performance (Marcelo Subiotto) ex aequo. This year he presents in Zabaltegi-Tabakalera Pedro en el país, also co-directed with María Alché.
