What can unfold in five minutes? More than you might imagine, especially when those five minutes keep repeating.
In 5 More Minutes, Javier Ruiz Caldera turns a couple’s crisis into a dizzying time-loop nightmare, blending black humour, fantasy, thriller and existential dread. Written by and starring Berto Romero, alongside Javier Cámara and Belén Cuesta, the film takes a marital spat and launches it into chaos and comedy. The five-minute loops unfold in five-minute sequence shots, demanding razor-sharp choreography from cast and crew. Every movement, entrance and word must hit its mark, making viewers feel every second slipping away.
Romero wrote instinctively, without choosing a genre: if a moment was tragic, it stayed tragic; if funny, funny. Because life has no genre. Neither does this film.
