Some films tell stories.Others invite us to listen. In In My Father’s Room, Maha Harada turns grief into a quiet investigation: after her father’s death, Satomi begins to discover the man behind the father she thought she knew. His room becomes a space of revelation, filled with art, poetry, rituals and the traces of a hidden inner life. Partly inspired by Víctor Erice’s The Spirit of the Beehive, Harada embraces the power of small gestures and unanswered questions. A painting, a tea ceremony, an object left behind: everything seems to whisper. Presented in the Official Selection, In My Father’s Room is a tender meditation on memory and the mysteries that remain between those closest to us. A film to watch slowly, and to listen to carefully.
