Synopsis
Director
In a poor part of Rome, Cencio keeps the family tradition alive by working doggedly at his profession of thief, alternating spells of freedom with time in prison. Part friendship, part need leads his beautiful neighbour Cesira to give him a hand. After a spectacular job, when Cencio disguises himself as a policeman, the thieves are about to swindle young shopowner Raimondi, when Cesira decides that she has fallen in love with the man and gives everything up to get married.
