GRÀCIES POR LA PROPINA / THANKS FOR THE TIP
Made in Spanish '98

In a peculiar family of liberal background, two bachelor uncles play father and mother to their orphaned nephews. A repressive school, the omnipresent Church and forces of law and order, quiet brothels and warm cafés all contribute to shaping the scenarios and characters of the film. A look at the early and not so early memories of Ferran Torres, author of the book on which the screenplay is based, and his brother Pepin in the Valencia of the 60s, a city and an era when almost anything went, to the surprise or outrage of just about no-body.
BIOGRAPHY

FRANCESC BELLMUNT

Bellmunt made his professional debut with Pastel de sangre (A Blood Cake, 1971), co-directed with other filmmakers. He shot several documentaries on Catalan songs in the 70s. L'orgia (The Orgy, 1978) marked his beginnings in costumbrismo comedy, the genre he has since preferred, and with which he has had several successes including Salut i força al canut (Health, Lust and Fun, 1979), La quinta del porro (The Stoned Conscripts, 1980) and Pà d'àngel (Angel Bread, 1988).
