LAS RATAS / THE RATS
Made in Spanish '98

A harsh, tragic vision of the Castile of the 50s, depicted through a gallery of characters who fiercely defend their freedom and whose very existence seems determined by the cycles of nature and the social and geographical milieu in which they live. Among them is, Nini, a boy whose only school is the natural setting in which he was born. He lives with his father in a cave, and the two earn a living by hunting water rats, the only profession they know. Only when they try to deprive the two of the roof over their heads and their livelihood does unchecked violence and tragedy explode.
