Synopsis
Director
Involved in a secret affair with his schoolteacher, Felipa, 13-year-old Eliseo dreams of a better life than that of his father, a stevedore in Mexico's Yucatan region. Felipa is also convinced that there has to be better world, without the restrictive barriers of tradition, incomprehension and intolerance. But everything tumbles round about them when the secret is let out of the bag. The teacher's return ten years later gives Eliseo the chance to end the story and break the spell, thereby recovering his respect for his father and finding the freedom to make his own way in life.
