Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Ane Gabarain (San Sebastián) studied at the Liceo Santo Tomás before going on to join the Teatro Antzerti school. She has been working as an actress in theatre, film and television since 1984.
She has appeared in films such as Pecata minuta (New Directors, 1999) and El coche de pedales (2004), by Ramón Barea; La comunidad / Common Wealth (Official Selection, 2000) and 800 balas / 800 Bullets (2002), by Álex de La Iglesia; 80 egunean / For 80 Days (Zinemira, 2010) and Loreak / Flowers (Official Selection, 2014), by Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goenaga, and El comensal (2022), by Ángeles Gonzalez-Sinde. In 2024 she received the Goya and Platino Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Estibaliz Urresola’s film 20.000 especies de abejas / 20,000 species of Bees (Zinemira, 2023). In the last year she has participated in the first feature film from Ana Lambarri Todo lo que no sé (Made in Spain), premiered at the Málaga Festival, and in Gaua, by Paul Urkijo, shortly to have its release.
In television she develops her professional activity in both Basque (EITB) and national networks. She has appeared in series including Bi eta bat, Mi querido Klikowsky, Periodistas, Allí abajo, Amar es para siempre, Ángela and Detective Touré. In 2020 she played the lead part in the series Patria, created by Aitor Gabilondo based on the novel by Fernando Aramburu and screened in San Sebastián’s Official Selection. Her work has earned her myriad recognitions, including the International Emmy Award for Best Actress.
She has developed a large part of her career in theatre. Amongst her most recent works are La casa de Bernarda Alba, a production of the Centro Dramático Nacional directed by Alfredo Sanzol.
