Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Zhou Dongyu (Shijiazhuang, China) began her acting career in 2010 with Shan zha shu zhi lian / Under the Hawthorn Tree, directed by Zhang Yimou, with whom she worked again on Jian ru pan shi / Under the Light (2023).
Her career also stands out for her collaborations with director Derek Tsang: Qi yue yu an sheng / Soul Mate (2016) and Shaonian de ni / Better Days (2019), which was nominated for the Oscar for Best International Feature Film and earned her the Best Actress award at the Asian Film Awards, the Golden Rooster Awards, and the Hundred Flowers Awards, among others.
In 2021, she starred in Ping yuan shang de huo yan / Fire on the Plain (Zhang Ji), which competed in the Official Selection of the San Sebastián Festival.
Her filmography includes films such as Gongsuo chenxiang / The Palace (Pan Anzi, 2013), Baozou shentan / The Unbearable Lightness of Inspector Fan (Clara Law, 2015), Xi huan ni / This Is Not What I Expected (Derek Hui, 2017), Dongwu shijie / Animal World (Han Yan, 2018), and Ran dong / The Breaking Ice (Anthony Chen, 2023), presented in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes.
She has served as a member of the jury for the main competitions at the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival, the 13th Beijing International Film Festival and the New Current competition at the 29th Busan International Film Festival.
