Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Palestinian actors Motaz Malhees and Saja Kilani attend the San Sebastian Festival to reflect on their roles in The Voice of Hind Rajab / La voz de Hind, a powerful film that shocked Venice audiences. Directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, it dramatises the January 2024 tragedy of a Palestinian girl, Hind, trapped in a car with her deceased family, calling for help amid Israeli gunfire. Kilani, playing a Red Crescent volunteer, highlights the responsibility of “giving voice to real-life heroes”. Malhees recalls the emotional impact of hearing Hind’s final distress calls, calling it “a slap in the face of reality.” The actors emphasise the film’s role in raising awareness and the importance of seeing Palestinians as human beings, not numbers. The film sparks hope, especially after witnessing the outpouring of support for Palestine in Donostia.
