Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Flores para Antonio is a deeply personal exploration by Alba Flores, a daughter seeking to understand her late father, the legendary Antonio Flores, through family conversations and his artistic legacy. Directors Isaki Lacuesta and Elena Molina emphasise the emotional depth of the process, with Lacuesta describing it as a catharsis where Alba and her family have been extremely generous.
Premiering in the Official Selection out of competition, the film delves into absence, unspoken conversations, and the pain of unresolved grief. Designed as a generational bridge to reach all audiences, it shifts from a portrait of Antonio’s life to Alba’s emotional journey while immersing in her father’s songs, drawings, and creations. Through intimate family conversations and reflections, the film offers a non-sensationalist and more complete picture of Antonio’s legacy. Thirty years after his death, Alba uses cinema, deeply rooted in her family with films by her grandparents Lola and Antonio, aunts Lolita and Rosario, and her father himself, to immortalise her father, paying a heartfelt tribute to an artist whose influence continues to resonate.
