Sponsor is a word of Latin origin meaning 'guarantor for another person'. Its significance becomes especially clear in view of the 73rd edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, which begins this Friday, 19 September: the more than 600 screenings and encounters with stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Matt Dillon, Juliette Binoche or Colin Farrell —who will present their latest films to the public, the film industry, and the media— would not be possible without the support of the Festival's sponsors. This year, the Festival welcomes new partners joining the ranks of our allies, essential collaborators who will ensure the experiences, emotions, and atmosphere that overcome the city for nine days.
MARTINI, the iconic Italian vermouth and aperitif brand with over 160 years of history, will be the official sponsor of the San Sebastian Film Festival's inaugural after party. The brand will bring its renowned Terrazza Martini to the San Telmo Museum, a temporary space reflecting Italian style and sophistication. Hosted by actor and filmmaker Paco León, the evening will featuret he Martini Bianco Spritz, with which all guests will be welcomed to toast the talent, creativity and festive spirit of the festival.
Codorníu, the oldest winery in Spain and one of the longest-standing in the world, will be the Official Cava of the Festival and will convey its Mediterranean essence, spirit of authenticity, and passion for celebrating every moment to the closing celebration, which will take place both inside and outside the Miramar Palace, overlooking the La Concha Bay.
Before the party, Viña Pomal, the Festival's Official Wine, will sponsor the closing dinner at the Miramar Palace, the meeting place for all the award-winning films from the 73rd edition. The joy and celebratory atmosphere will be imbued with the refined and fresh wines of this flagship brand by Bodegas Bilbaínas.
The diversity of brands cooperating with the Festival is vast. Make&Mark, a leading media planning and purchasing company, is partnering for the first time with one of the Festival's most unique sections, Horizontes Latinos, which reflects our historic connection with Latin American cinema.
And to support Made in Spain, the section that serves as an international showcase for Spanish cinema, Universae, the Higher Institute of Vocational Training, has joined as a sponsor. It has also promoted a short film competition to showcase emerging talent and new voices in cinemaAnother brand characterised by excellence, the Italian company Liu·Jo, specialising in the production of knitwear, also joins the exclusive list of Festival sponsors.
Finally, the necessary dose of caffeine needed by film crews, journalists, and industry professionals will be provided by Cafés Templo, the Official Coffee of the 73rd edition.
These new sponsors join fellow partners from past editions who are already part of the Festival's image and audience, such as RTVE, EiTB, Movistar Plus +, Audi, Kutxabank, Armani Beauty, El Diario Vasco, Irizar, Jamones Ibéricos de España, Keler, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, Renfe, Repsol, Urbil, Antiguo Berri, La Perla, and Vichy Catalan. Our gratitude also extends to the rest of the institutions, companies, and organisations whose commitment makes it possible for the Festival to celebrate its 73rd edition in full swing.
