In the last moments of World War II, a 19 year old private, ragged and starving, steals a captain's uniform. Impersonating an officer he gathers a group of deserters and proceeds to kill and plunder his way through a beaten Nazi Germany. The Captain marks writer/director Robert Schwentke's return to Germany.
Robert Schwentke took his first steps as a director in Germany with the thriller Tattoo (2002), followed by Eierdiebe (The Family Jewels, 2003). His American debut came in 2005 with Flightplan, starring Jodie Foster. In the last decade he has continued to work in the USA, where he directed The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009), Red (2010), R.I.P.D. (2013), and the two instalments of the Divergent Series, Insurgent (2015) and Allegiant (2016).
