The Dutch author and film director, Threes Anna is back in San Sebastián to present her second film Silent City in the New Directors section. Her film is about a young girl who moves to Tokyo to learn the secrets of the art of filleting fish, and although she herself did spend time in the Japanese capital working at a theatre, she says the film isn’t really autobiographical. She did share the sense of isolation that her main character has to face up to but admits that nowadays with the Internet, mass-tourism and the spread of English, young people would have things a lot easier than they were twenty five years ago.
