A renaissance woman broadening her horizons even further
Saturday, September 29th, 2012

Julie Taymor is probably best known as the first woman to win a Tony award for the best direction of a musical for her production of The Lion King., but she has also directed several feature films, and beyond the world of stage and screen, has even directed five operas. She’s in San Sebastián as a member of the Official Jury and is delighted to be here because it gives her the chance to see films that don’t usually reach the United States, as despite living in New York, she says it is often difficult to see films from other countries.

It’s not the first time she’s been on a Festival jury; in fact she’s just been on one in Mexico, and she says that it’s also an opportunity for her to meet some really interesting people and to enjoy the amazing food here in San Sebastián.
