An ambassador for Colombian cinema
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

The Colombian actress Juana Acosta has come to San Sebastián to form part of the Horizontes Latinos Jury and stresses the excellent chemistry that exists among the trio of women who are judging this section. Unlike in previous years, there is less Colombian cinema at the festival this year, which strikes her as being unusual as she thinks that her country is not only going through a marvelous period of economic growth but is also experiencing a cinematic boom. She recalls that when she left Columbia 14 years ago, they used to make 3 or 4 films a year, and now they turn out from 30 to 40.

She’s just finished shooting Le Sanctuaire by Olivier Massat-Depasse in which she plays Yoyes, the first woman to play an important role in the upper echelons of ETA.
