Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Culture Observatory at the Fundación Contemporánea has published the results of its six-monthly analysis of the cultural panorama in our country, a question asked to a panel of experts and professionals from the field of culture in Spain. In these results, the San Sebastian International Film Festival ranks fourth most important cultural event in the second semester of 2013.
The Festival therefore climbs six rungs with regard to last year’s questionnaire to occupy fourth position behind the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo del Prado and the Matadero Cultural Centre in Madrid. The Festival also holds first place in the report among seasonal cultural initiatives with activity that only runs at certain times of the year.
The mission of the Fundación Contemporánea is to contribute to professional development of the culture industry in Spain. In this respect, its first initiative in 2009 was to launch the Culture Observatory, an instrument conceived to take the pulse of the culture industry and create indicators for its analysis. This ninth consultation of the Culture Observatory obtained response from a hundred and twelve members of the panel between the months of November 2013 and January 2014.
