Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The 13th International Film Students Meeting, organized by San Sebastian Festival and Tabakalera-International Contemporary Culture Centre of San Sebastian, proposes an exchange of audiovisual experiences and knowledge at one of the most important movie events in the world.
The Meeting has the backing of San Sebastian European Capital of Culture 2016 given that it is an obvious exponent of the scenarios and forms of work that this initiative wishes to promote.
Youngsters can show their short films, attend meetings with professionals, workshops and to the master class.
The selected short films will be screened at showings open to the general public and Festival guests as well as by professionals from the audiovisual industry who can chat to the students presenting their works. Jointly they will watch and comment on the films generating an interesting discussion about film theory and practice. They will also have the opportunity to get to know and experience how the film industry works firsthand.
Each candidate school can present three short films all of them produced during the 2013/2014 school year. Around 14 schools will be chosen to take part in the Meeting with screening of the works chosen from the three presented for selection.
A specific jury, consisting of students from the participating school and chaired by a personality from the world of film will choose the winner of the Panavision and Freak Agency Awards going to the director of the winning short film.
This same Jury will also choose three directors who will have the opportunity to participate with their works in the next Cannes Festival Short Film Corner.
Moreover, for the first time this year, we will have two new awards: the Torino Award and the BioBio Award. Thanks to the Torino Award one of the directors taking part in the Meeting will be guaranteed attendance to a TorinoFilmLab programme. On the other hand, the Panavision Award winning short film will be also awarded with the BioBio Award with which this short film will be directly shortlisted for the next BioBio Cine Festival Internacional de Concepción, Chile.
