FUTATSUME NO MADO / STILL THE WATER

A co-production between Japan, France and the Spanish production company Eddie Saeta directed by Naomi Kawase, which competed in the last edition of the Cannes Festival. On the subtropical Japanese island of Amami-Oshima, 16-year-old Kaito discovers a dead body floating in the sea. His girlfriend Kyoko will attempt to help him understand this mysterious discovery. Together, they will learn to become adults.

BIOGRAPHY

Naomi Kawase became the youngest ever winner of the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Festival with her first feature, Suzaku (1997). Ten years later, she returned to Cannes with Mogari no mori (The Mourning Forest), winning the Special Jury Prize. One of her many documentaries, Genpin (2010), participated in the Official Selection at the San Sebastian Festival that same year, obtaining the Fipresci Award, and another, Sky, Wind, Fire, Water, Earth (2001), was screened as part of the retrospective ".doc - New paths of non-fiction". Still the Water competed at the Cannes Festival in 2014.
