Providing a state-of-the-art perspective on cinema
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

Maria Mur, the director of the contemporary art production company, Consonni, is forming part of the New Directors Jury. She says this is the first time she has been a judge at a film festival, and that what she is looking for are films that are unconventional and that have something experimental about them. As a member of the audience she can enjoy a wide variety of films, but she thinks that it is very different to see a film as a juror: “when all’s said and done, it’s a job that you’re doing and you need to be really alert. While you’re watching the film, you are trying to find arguments to defend or criticise it. I realise that when I go and see something from other sections, I relax a lot more”
