Born To Be Blue
Donostia Award Special Screenings

Born to be Blue is not a traditional biopic but a reimagining of jazz trumpeter Chet Baker's life in the 60s. When Chet stars in a film about himself, a romance heats up with the African American female lead, Jane. Production is shelved when Chet's past comes back to haunt him and it appears he will never play music again but Jane challenges him to stay clean and mount a musical comeback against all odds.

BIOGRAPHY

After attending the Vancouver Film School, Robert Budreau wrote and directed a series of award-winning short films. His debut feature That Beautiful Somewhere (2006) was nominated for a Genie Award. He also wrote and produced Bank$tas (Jeff Stephenson, 2013) and previously produced the Spanish comedy, El Jefe (Jaime Escallon-Buraglia, 2010) and the thriller, Solo (Isaac Cravit, 2013).
