Elder Mamani's father has died, but he doesn’t seem to care. He still hogs the limelight at karaoke, in the streets, and gets into trouble. But no one wants to look after him any more, leaving him no other option but to replace his father down the bloody mine.
Kiro Russo (La Paz, Bolivia) is a director, producer and screenwriter. He studied directing at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires. He made the short films Enterprisse (2010), Juku (2012) and Nueva Vida (2015), for which he won several awards at important festivals, including the Locarno, San Sebastian, IndieLisboa and Ficunam Festivals, the Jihlava International Documentary Festival and the Kaohsiung International Festival. All of these works are closely related to Viejo Calavera, his first feature film.
