When he died, Fernando Ruiz Vergara left dozens of drafts for films he was never able to make. The Andalusian filmmaker had only directed one documentary, Rocío, heartrending and fascinating, damned after its judicial censorship during the early years of democracy in Spain. Since then, his projects have lain dormant in the imagination and the desire. In Caja de resistencia we fabricate those dream projects, taking them to the cinema from the present, as a gesture of resistance.

For the first time a recording is made of the Cuelgamuros crypts, hidden behind the walls of the basilica chancels. There, more than 33,800 people are buried in Spain's biggest mass grave. We enter with the forensic team who, since 2023, have been trying to locate and identify 214 of them. We will discover surprising findings and hear the harsh criticism, denunciations and bureaucracy facing them after taking on a historical challenge that they themselves believed to be impossible.

Rocío (1980) not only portrayed Spain's most famous pilgrimage: it also revealed the repression meted out under Franco in Almonte. The consequences were dire: a court censored it and its director never made another film. Forty years later, Isabel Cadenas Cañón follows the trail of the "Rocío" devotees: filmmakers who took up his baton, a family marked by censorship, and a jurist who explains why that silence is, also, that of all of we women, today. Documentary directed by Cecilia Barriga and shot in 2025 and 2026 on joint initiative of the Commissioner for the Holding of the 50th Anniversary of Spain in Freedom and the Institute of Youth (Injuve). In the work, more than 80 young people from all over Spain discuss, at a series of meetings, the gender crisis, the contradictions of their lives: a collective reflection on the meaning of being young, today's relationships, identity, sexuality, violence and - always - partying. An exercise of democracy - as a conversation between strangers - setting out and celebrating thought, and also fear and joy when looking to the future.
