The peasant uprising of Casas Viejas during the Second Spanish Republic (January 1933) ocurred in the large landed estates. The Land Reform came late and did little, political desperation, and a crisis fromed by hunger and a lack of money. Ignorant of the fact that the revolution had failed in the rest of Spain, they kicked out the Mayor, distributed the food supplies and burned the Arbitrary papers. The Headquarters of the Guardia Civil is closed until reinforcements arrive. Later the Guards de Asalto star to arrest people, mistreat women, burn alive the "Seisdedos" family in their house, innocent pleople shot by firing squads, searches in the mountains...The Spanish Government tries to hide the facts (Parliamentary debates, military threats, trials) with the consequential loss of popular belief and very serious political consequences.

Caso cerrado tells the story of Cesar's moral downfall. At the start of the film he posseses everything: love (he is married to Isabel) and a job with which he lives well (he is the Director of a Banking Society). Within a short time of the wedding, Cesar discovers discrepancies in the bank accounts and asks for an auditor. In the beginning, certain fraudulent activities are discovered which are attributed to some Bank Directors. These accusations are later put down to Cesar who is charged with Embezzlement. At that moment Cesar is living in France to escape from serving his Military Service as he is a conscientious objector. When he learns about the accusations he returns to Spain and gives himself up to the judge who tries to prove his innocence. The situation gets more complicated when Cesar is sent to prison. It is evident that the Bank Directors are trying to put all the blame on Cesar so that their own fraudulent actions are not discovered. Meanwhile, a journalist from the TV manages to get hold of some film of an interview between the judge in charge of the case and one of the Directors. The situation grows until it is like a nightmare hanging over the heads of Cesar and isabel. She eventually loses all hope of recovering her happiness, which lessens minute by minute, and she finishes by leaving his husband. He, very deceptioned, writes a letter to his wife from prison to try and save the little that he has left... But he knows that there is nothing left. The letter is his last goodbye.

When Annick Lanoë shot Les Nanas she was "trying to depict that world of women far removed from the male sphere. I just love the secrets of the kitchen. The things women talk about while they wash the dishes!". Men, on the other hand, hardly appear at all in the film. They are, however, the topic of conversation for the film's character, between laughter and crying. Charlotte asks herself: "My friend say I'm strange. I want a husband and kids. Is that normal?". Christine: "Have lived with Robert for seven years. We adore each other. Iknow he has had a lover for six months. Should I brake it off?". Evelyne: "I left my husband when I met Roberto. He was living with Christine. the worst of it is that he doesn't want to make a choice, he wantis both of us. What should I do?". Françoise: "I live with Philippe, a photographic journalist much younger than myself. Do I have to support his lovers too?". Antoinette: "First Philippe was crazy about me. Now that I'm pregnant, I need him even more and that annoys him. What do I do?". Eliane: "I slept with Robert. Making love is like hacing a drink or having lunch. Is it unromantic to care about oneself?". Mariana answers all these anxious questions with: "Ah, women! Always crying over men! The body! You've got to use the body". Not just your head!".

This film is made up of two parts intersected and punctuated by scenes of group dances. There are two movements in this first part: the tender links between sister-in-law and the hesitations of the husband/brother. Then the relationships develop between the yong man and the girl. The second part is a whole whithout any variations: the will of the woman to lead her own life and the family life... the big plans and the ordinary worries. The two parts open up on a revolution made of femenine demonstration, social fractures and the restructuring of responsabilities in ... an African country.
