Jose Mari Goenaga
Thursday, September 24th, 2015

He’s quite comfortable co-directing and for the moment he’s no desire to direct on his own: “Although maybe next year there might not be a film in Basque in the Official Section, what has happened with Loreak or Amama this year, 8 Apellidos Vascos and other hits sets a standard. People are definitely going to talk more about Basque cinema after this festival.”

At the present time, he’s deeply involved in the Kalebegiak project with his production company Moriarti. It’ll form part of the European Capital of Culture programme in 2016 and is a choral piece that aims to portray San Sebastián through the vision of twelve filmmakers and will be screened at the Festival next year. On the other hand he’s working on the script for Haundia, that is based on the story of the Giant of Alzo, who many people claim was the tallest man in the world: someone who is well-known in the Basque Country but unknown elsewhere.
