Three years afeter competing at the New Directors Section with Shell, Scotish director Scott Graham comes back to the San Sebastian Festival with this drama. Iona and her teenage son Bull seek refuge from a violent crime on the island where she was born. Iona's return exposes Bull to a way of life she rejected as a teenager and sends a shock wave through the family she left behind.

BIOGRAPHY

Scott Graham directed the short films Born to Run (2006), Shell (2008) and Native Son (2010), before directing his first feature film, Shell (2012), based on the short film of the same name about a teenage girl’s last days in the remote highland petrol station she shares with her father. The film competed in New Directors and won Best Film at Torino Film Festival in 2012. It also earned Scott a nomination for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer-Director at the 2014 British Academy Film Awards. Iona is his second feature.
