A hot summer in Lisbon. David, 14, awaits the imminent death of his grandfather but refuses to visit him, fearing this terrible loss. The void already left by his grandfather forces David to become the man of the house. He doesn't feel ready to assume this new role, but without realizing it: the more David tries to avoid adulthood, the more he gets closer to it...Selected for Venice's Critics' Week.
João Salaviza (Lisbon, 1984) debuted with the feature film Montanha after completing a trilogy of short films, winners of awards at numerous international festivals: Rafa (2012) carried off the Golden Bear at the Berlinale; Cerro Negro (2012) was selected for the Rotterdam Festival, and Arena (2009) won the Palme d’Or for Best Short Film at the Cannes Festival. In 2012, the Centre Pompidou in Paris presented four of his films in a retrospective program.
