Tuesday, September 26th, 2017

Calmin Borel, Savina Neirotti and Carla Simón, the three members of the Zabaltegi- Tabakalera Award Jury are all really thrilled about the selection of films that make up the section this year.Savina Neirotti stresses the sheer variety of things they have been able to see: shorts, documentaries based on archive material, work by established directors, others by new directors, so it’s going to be difficult to harmonise their criteria and grant just one award, while Carla Simón says that they are really conscious of the enormous responsibility involved in working as a juror, “We all know that a prize at a festival changes the life of a film.” The president of the jury, Calmin Borel highlights the fact that the Festival is bold enough to organise a section like Zabaltegi. “The mixture of styles and viewpoints that converge in a section like this one is something that is really commendable. I hope that other festivals take note.”
