The actresses Leticia Dolera and Anne Igartiburu will present the opening gala of the San Sebastian Festival’s 65th edition on September 22 at 21:00 in the Kursaal Auditorium.
The gala, directed by Manuel Palacios, will bring life to the premise of the script written by Andoni de Carlos and Ekaitz Cruz: Cinema invades the city. Buildings, monuments and emblematic places of San Sebastián will come together before disintegrating as they relate to references from the history of film, while some of the filmmakers featuring on the Festival programme will present the films and projects of the 65th edition.
At the gala, the Fipresci Grand Prix will be presented to Aki Kaurismäki, for Toivon tuolla puolen / The Other Side of Hope, the Official Jury will be presented and its President, the actor John Malkovich, will make a short speech, and the team of the opening film, Submergence, consisting of the director, Wim Wenders and its leading lady, Alicia Vikander, will present the film.
The opening gala will be broadcast live by La 2, ETB1, eitb.eus and on the Festival website.
