On September 29 the Gehitu association will present its Sebastiane Award 2017 going to the film production screened at the San Sebastian Festival which best reflects the realities, freedoms and social progresses of the LGBTI collective. This award, which celebrates its 18th edition, will go to a work chosen from among seven candidates selected for the Official Selection, New Directors, Horizontes Latinos, Pearls, Culinary Zinema and Made in Spain sections at the Festival’s 65th edition. The winning film of the Sebastiane Latino Award 2017 for Best Latin American Film of the year on the subject of LGTBI, Una mujer fantástica (A Fantastic Woman) (Chile, Germany, Spain and the USA), directed by Sebastián Lelio, will open Horizontes Latinos.
The Gehitu association and its Sebastiane Award jury wish to highlight the important participation of Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese delegates in the 3rd Meeting of Ibero-american LGTBI Film Festivals. This meeting will take place on 25 and 27 September, in collaboration with the San Sebastian Festival and Acción Cultural Española, and has the mission to build bridges between the two continents in order to serve as a framework of reflection on the reality of this kind of festivals.

Adi, a young anthropologist recently left by his girlfriend, moves to Ferentari (the poorest neighborhood in Bucharest) to write a study on manele music (the pop music of the Roma community). While researching his subject, he meets Alberto, a Roma ex-convict who promises to help him. Soon, the two begin a romance in which Adi feeds Alberto improbable plans to escape poverty while Alberto reciprocates with well-concocted phrases of love. When the money runs out, both find themselves trapped in an apartment where they love and use each other, in a game of need and power that has no winners.
