A documentary about Ingmar Bergman focussing on a hugely important year in his career, 1957, when he directed the masterpieces Det sjunde inseglet (The Seventh Seal) and Smultronstället (Wild Strawberries). However, more than simply looking at Bergman’s artistic facet, it addresses his private life like never before, particularly his stormy sentimental relationship with women, including several of the actresses he worked with.
A director specialising in the documentary field, Jane Magnusson has spent the last six years of her life researching the life and work of Ingmar Bergman. The result is two films, Trespassing Bergman (2013), in which some of today’s leading filmmakers talk about the influence the Swedish master had on their work, and Bergman - ett ar, ett liv (Bergman, A Year in a Life, 2018). The other works in her filmography are Ebbe: The Movie (2009) and Christina Lindberg: The Original Eyepatch Wearing Butt Kicking Movie Babe (2016).
