In the late ‘50s, Florence Green decides to make one of her greatest dreams come true: to leave London and open a small bookshop on the British coast. But to her surprise, the decision will trigger all sorts of reactions among the locals.
Isabel Coixet debuted as a director with Demasiado viejo para morir joven (1989), shown at Zabaltegi-New Directors in San Sebastian. She achieved public and critical acclaim with her second work, Cosas que nunca te dije (Things I Never Told You, 1996). She continued with titles including Mi vida sin mí (My Life Without Me, 2003), La vida secreta de las palabras (The Secret Life of Words, 2005), Invisibles (2007), Elegy (2008), Mapa de los sonidos de Tokio (Map of the Sounds of Tokyo, 2009), Ayer no termina nunca (Yesterday Never Ends, 2013) and Nadie quiere la noche (Nobody Wants the Night, 2015). In 2016 she presented Spain in a Day at San Sebastian's TVE Screenings. The Bookshop won the Goyas for Best Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2006 she was a member of the Official Jury in San Sebastian.
